ELDOA 1 is a two day course and is the foundation for all other levels.
A significant amount of time in this course is devoted to the practical application of the 4 classic ELDOA of the spine (C4/5, T6/7, T8/9 + L5/S1).
This course is designed for participants to gain a basic understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine and to build confidence in applying and teaching the most frequently used ELDOA exercises with proper form and technique.
ELDOA Level 1 is a course for EVERYONE: exercise professionals and physical trainers, athletic trainers, coaches, RMTs, golf and movement instructors, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors AND clients.
Lecture topics include:
- The History of the ELDOA
- Dr. Guy Voyer’s Educational Paradigm (Complexity, Tensegrity, Biomechanics & Learn by Doing)
- Paradox of the Spine – Mobility vs. Stability
- The General Anatomy and Biomechanics of the Spine
- What is an Intervertebral Disc?
- Back Pain: Medical Approach: Treat the Symptoms vs. the ELDOA: Address the Cause
- & most importantly – The Philosophy of the ELDOA “You are your own best therapist”
PREREQUISITE: None

ELDOA 2 in the reformatted ELDOA program is a three-day course. The first day is review of ELDOA 1.
Instructors will expand on many of the topics from ELDOA 1 including the general anatomy and biomechanics of the spine using the descriptive anatomy.
The biomechanics will be the classic biomechanics from Kapanji’s Physiology of the Joints: Volume 3: Trunk
The ELDOA exercises taught in this course include the levels of the spine L5-S1 to C2-C3.
Lecture topics include:
- Back Pain: Address the Cause vs Treat the Symptoms
- What are the goals of the ELDOA
- Descriptive Anatomy and Kapandji Biomechanics of the Spine
- Special ELDOA & Factors of Progression
- Functional Spine Unit of Junghans and the Role of the Intervertebral Disc
- Philosophy of Tensegrity Biomechanics & Functional Anatomy
- Water is Life: Intercellular vs Extracellular Water
- Introduction to Dura Mater & Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF)
- The Teaching Principles – Awareness, MFS and Lemniscate
- Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM)
- The Philosophy of The ELDOA – “You Are Your Own Best Therapist.“
- Techno-methodology and practice of ELDOA postures from C2-C3 to L5-S1
- Importance of A Home Program

This course does not include the pelvis and sacro-iliac joint.
The anatomy is the classic descriptive anatomy of the spine, ribs, shoulder and hips. The biomechanics are based on Kapanji’s Physiology of the Joints texts (all).
The ELDOA exercises in this course include the ELDOA for all the ribs, coxo-femoral joints, the shoulder – all parts – and a review of the spine ELDOA.
Lecture topics include:
- Reviews of ELDOA Levels 1-2
- Descriptive Anatomy and classic Biomechanics of the Hip
- Techno-methodology and practice of ELDOA postures of the Hip
- Descriptive Anatomy and classic Biomechanics of the Shoulder Complex

- Factors of Progression
- Fascia Overview
- Discuss the Importance of a Home Program
The goal of ELDOA Level 3 is for the student to leave with an in-depth level of anatomical, mechanical and tensegrity principals of the Peripheral Joints while getting plenty of practical experience.
